Ekstraklasa Action Round-up

Here it is, what You've been waiting for whole weekend, probably. Interesting things had happened during those last three days, some news also added just today and the goals were once again special. Almost. Have a read:

Korona Kielce 2-1 Śląsk Wrocław (watch goals)

Not most surprising result as guests were without their coach - Ryszard Tarasiewicz has been suspended by club and is duo to be sacked. Korona however was a much happier place, sitting almost at the top of the table, with Andrzej Niedzielan in great scoring form, presenting very well as a team under Marcin Sasal management. But the game turned out to be much different, however ending in the way everyone predicted it. Śląsk had the better chances in first half and must blame themselves that they didn't convert them. Korona made change at half time, Śląsk looked tired and the hosts were on top scoring twice and letting their rivals to answer with one. Monday come and Śląsk have a new manager, 68-year old Orest Lenczyk who is known as a fireman in Polish football, with his experience, character... probably he will save them from relegation but I doubt that he will take them as high as their ambition reach.

Legia Warsaw 2-1 Lech Poznan (watch goals)

What a game it was. Not the best in terms of football, technique or tactics but emotions involved, the atmosphere... the game was awesome. Lech started great, scoring early and still threatening Legia with another great situations. Not taken though, and Legia made the score level through Kucharczyk, young striker and rising star in their ranks. In the second half, Maciej Rybus was sent off, as well as Legia coach, Maciej Skorża and the game was more open. Both teams had their chances, but Legia captain, Ivica Vrdoljak drove his team forward with his great performance and, finally, they found a dramatic winner coming from Bruno Mezenga header in the 89th minute. The atmosphere was awesome, new Legia stadium full and louder than You'd expect. Great, an epic win for the hosts but still their problems are well documented and lot of work to do to reach ambition of the club.

Lechia Gdańsk 5-1 Górnik Zabrze (watch goals)

What a win for the hosts. It came in the moment when their rivals were on good run with results coming their way and despite Górnik was tipped to be involved in battle to avoid relegation, they are now quite comfortable. Or maybe they were, until this happened. Lechia played their best game in long few months, and they could easily made the score even higher. Buzała and Traore partnership is more than just promising, Baijć plays like he never did before, defence is finally working properly. Great win, nothing has to be said more.

Polonia Warszawa 2-2 Polonia Bytom (watch goals)

Not the start Paweł Janas had in mind. When Polonia Bytom makes Your team look like an average side then something must be going wrong. The first half was very entertaining, but the second pretty dull as Polonia wasn't able to find a winner and Janas changes were not the best. Good results for guests though, as they need every point to survive in the league. Another fine game from David Kobylik who may be overweight but sends great balls and assisting in every move Polonia create.

Cracovia 2-0 Arka Gdynia (watch goals)

The game was truly awful and not the opener the great stadium deserved. Especially when it comes to referring. Adam Lyczmański made a performance that Stuart Attwell would be proud of with allowing two goals that clearly came after foul on goalkeeper and second after handling the ball. The win that saved Rafał Ulatowski job in Cracovia.

Ruch Chorzów 1-1 Widzew Łódź (watch goals)

Not much interesting game to be honest, both teams deserved a point. Shame that Sebastian Olszar had to come off with serious injury - he had his cheekbone broken and may miss next few Ruch games.

GKS Bełchatów 1-1 Wisła Kraków (watch goals)

Very, very average game in first half with Wisła playing particularly low. Robert Maaskant saw this and made two changes in half time but once again his defence made mistake that costed them goal. At least they have good attacking players who made the difference and finally scored the leveler but there was not enough time to find a winner. Sapela played good in GKS goal, while Boukhari once again proved to be good transfer made by Maaskant.

Jagiellonia Białystok 2-0 Zagłębie Lubin (watch goals)

Steady first half, with even chances for the guests - they defended wisely, not giving too much space to their rivals. When Frankowski had his chance he missed it trying his firm chip over the keeper. Probierz introduced Grosicki for the second half and that brought them first goal with another fine run on the right from the striker. Then he gave debut to Essomba and he made also a great run, passed to Kupisz, and former Wigan player made it 2-0. Jagiellonia is top of the league and they deserve it.
